Preventicare Program:
PreventiCare is a unique equine-wellness program created for all horses.  By enrolling in PreventiCare and following its guidelines, you qualify your horse for the added benefit of Pfizer’s Colic Assistance Plan. If your horse develops colic serious enough for surgery, Pfizer Animal Health will reimburse the operating surgeon for surgical costs and three days of aftercare, to a maximum of $5,000.
Participating in the PreventiCare program is easy. By working with your veterinarian, you will be able to monitor and document your compliance with the PreventiCare requirements.

There are six minimum requirements when enrolled in the PreventiCare program:
Annual physical exam
Annual dental exam, along with any advised treatment
Appropriate immunizations as recommended by your veterinarian
Strongid® C or Strongid® C 2X™ administered daily, year-round
Twice-yearly treatments of Equell® (ivermectin) or EquimaxTM (ivermectin/praziquantel)

There are three disqualifications to enrollment in PreventiCare:
Any horse that has had colic surgery
Any horse that has experienced colic in the last 12 months or has a history of chronic colic
Any horse under five months, or not fully weaned, or any horse over 20 years of age

Horses that are officially enrolled before age 20 may re-enroll each year until age 24. If enrollment lapses at any time after age 20, the horse will not be eligible for re-enrollment. Should your horse fall into one of these exclusions, that’s all the more reason you should participate in a wellcare program with your veterinarian. We cannot, however, enroll your horse in PreventiCare.

To participate, all Strongid C or Strongid C 2X, as well as Equimax or Equell, must be purchased from your enrolling veterinarian – who is also required to administer all components of the program.

Coverage for eligible horses begins 30 days after receipt of the application by Pfizer Animal Health, and the owner will receive an Official Enrollment Certificate in about 30 days.
